It is a fact of life that their are some words that cannot be completely confined by definition. Thank God. Language, after all, is only a system of sound/graphic symbols that represent a "thing" whether tangible or abstract. Some words in essence can only point a finger in some general direction. Thus statements such as, " I cannot describe it, but I know it when I see it" reflect this situation. Specificity is the domain of lawyers and scientist. Outside of the confines of such domains I believe it is important that ideas such as "art" are strengthened by inclusion. By whatever expression it is greater by an ever expanding membership. There are those who work to erect artificial walls around ideas in the belief that they are strengthened. Marriage; for instance. There is no ownership. It is in the sharing that these ideas are strengthened. I would hope that all children are taught that they are artists. If we can find art in the world then we hold it inside. Does it matter how we express it?
